“Ghosts” focuses on Helene, who has spent her life suspended in an emotional void after the death of her cruel but outwardly charming husband. She is determined to escape the ghosts of her past by telling her son, Oswald, the truth about his father. But on his return from his life as a painter in France, Oswald reveals how he has already inherited the legacy of Captain Alving’s dissolute life. The play premiered in 1882 and it‘s scathing commentary on 19th century morality labelled it shockingly indecent and controversial. Now the play is back and it is just as telling as ever. The play „Ghosts” is given a chilling new life in this production.
We are delighted to announce: This december, the Bonn University Shakespeare Company will stage two plays side by side! We delve into two plays, which pair love with conflicts and war:
Romeo and Juliet
and
Troilus and Cressida
Whilst Romeo & Juliet is a shakespearean play gone myth, Troilus & Cressida is Shakespeare’s retelling of the myth of Troy!

Wir freuen uns sehr, euch verkünden zu dürfen: Diesen Dezember bringt die Bonn University Shakespeare Company eine Doppelproduktion auf die Bühne! Wir stürzen uns in zwei Stücken, die sich auf unterschiedliche Art um Liebe drehen und sich gegenseitig ergänzen:
Romeo und Julia
und
Troilus und Cressida
Während Romeo & Julia durch Shakespeare zu einem modernen Mythos geworden ist, stellt Troilus & Cressida eine durch ihn erzählte Version des Troja-Mythos dar. Wie unterschiedlich sich Liebe auf die Konflikte in den Stücken auswirken kann, könnt ihr im Dezember auf der Bühne der Brotfabrik erleben. Dabei halten wir aber noch ein besonderes Schmankerl für euch bereit: Zum ersten Mal wagen wir uns an immersives Theater und geben euch die Möglichkeit, ganz nah am Geschehen dabei zu sein! Neben den klassischen Plätzen auf den Zuschauerrängen werden eine begrenzte Anzahl von immersiven Stehplätzen auf der Bühne verfügbar sein.

it’s that time of the year again: the Bonn University Shakespeare Company is looking for actors for the upcoming summer production „Salome“ by Oscar Wilde!

We are proud to announce that we got ourselves a new play for our summer production!
For the next months, we’ll be exploring themes of love, greed and desire with Oscar Wilde’s famous one-acter „Salomé“, which will be directed by the fabulous Lisa Geierhaas.
We can’t wait to dive into this tragedy,

Directed by Marc Erlhöfer, the play will focus on the political intrigues of the play, set in contemporary times. We can’t wait to get this thing started!
After an unbelievably tense election between four amazing play proposals, we have elected our next production.

After a thrilling meeting with the whole company last night, it is with great pride and excitement that we announce our next big summer production – and it’s a real classic.
From July 7th – 14th we’ll bring Shakespeare’s HAMLET to the Brotfabrik Bühne Bonn.
Directed by Anthea Petermann, we’ll take a fresh look at one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays with a stage full of beautiful projections and illuminations, a small live band and a little ‚musical‘ within the play, trying to answer the question what it really means to be alive in our generation.
